This is the day, beginning to end. First, the frog that I caught, next 2, elephant seals, then salamander or newt things that we found in the river, a red bug on our Miskito tent, and us stuffing our mouthes full of food! This morning, we woke up, and colopesed our tents. As I colopesed my tent, I found the frog. After we let it go, we drove 45 minuets, had lunch, then drove an hour and a half on a highway that went on a cliff, one side was the ocean, the other side was a huge cliff. About half way through the drive, there was a turn out for elephant seals. We pulled over, there where LOTS OF THEM! When we got to our campsite, we took our shoes and socks of and put flip flops on, and waded in the river. In the river we found the newt things. After we got out, we found a weird red bug on the tent. Then we had dinner and went to bed.
THE END
Grandma T. here:
ReplyDeleteI am just catching up on the Booher blog. Grandpa and I are one day away from home--staying tonight in Iowa.
I love all the seashore critters you have found. That red insect is really unusual--I think someone needs to research it. At first I thought the red might be an egg sac, but I can't quite tell. Is it a spider? Did it fly--could the red be folded wings?
We'll be reading your next blog posts from home. We're hoping not to find snow there . . .
Love, Grandma T.
I think that insect looks like a bug wearing a pink Cubs hat!

That sounds sooooo cool. I wish I could have been there! -Anna P.S. You guys are lucky ducks😀
ReplyDeleteI remember salamander hunting with my sister when I was about your age. My Mom, your Great Grandmother Katherine, was not too happy when we knocked over the big bucket full of them in our living room. We were finding those little critters for days.

Well I think that red bug looks more like a Reds fan.
ReplyDeleteWow Katie! Sounds like you had another fun day! (What an appropriate name for your post!) I'm trying to guess which part may have been the most fun... hmmm... it's hard to pick!
ReplyDeleteNews from the home front (or, actually, the home "back"--- we have put up a swingset in the backyard. River is getting big and she's learning a lot. She's taking puppy classes and has lost most of her puppy teeth. Speaking of lost teeth... looks like your sister has lost quite a few herself!
Thanks for the post!
