Hold on— and don't fall!

Hi, this is Sean😀. Top to bottom: me on at the end of the hike, up the spine of Angels Landing, us at the top of the trail, us on the switchbacks of Angels Landing, hazardous climbing sign, hiking up the mountain, and Zion where we are staying. Angels Landing today and a-gazillion "hold on," "don't fall," "slow down," "and I will hold on to you."
Dad and Katie got up at around five-thirty to go on the hike. When they returned they told us it was Amazing with a capital a. I read my book until around twelve and then we packed our backpacks and got in the car. The road was closed so we had to hike half a mile to the trailhead then began the hike. The first part of the hike was just a little bit steep and was relitivly flat. The second part was a lot of long switchbacks you already could see for miles. After those switchbacks it was a pretty flat hike through the canyon. After the canyon it was Walters Wiggles which was twenty-two short switchbacks. Then you had a very steep hike that got you to the climbing part the view there was amazing. It was only half a mile of climbing until the end. We climbed up we had to hold on to chains to keep from falling. We had to climb almost straight up to get to the top. When we got to the top the view was breathtaking you could see all the way down Zion Canyon both ways.
We stayed up at the top for a long time when it got a little windy we decided to go down. As we were going down my feet came out from under me and the chain I was holding might have saved my life. We kept going down and when we were done with climbing we were happy because it was hard. We went down Walters Wiggles and soon got to the car. We were exhausted since we had gone six miles almost straight up. When we got back to the campsite we went down to the river to rest. We had a delicious dinner of eggs toast and BACON. I hope my legs aren't sore tomorrow. We went to bed after a long day of landing like angels at Angels Landing. We slept like rocks the hike was really fun.

  1. Awesome, Sean and Katie!!!! Wasn't it a lot of fun? Did Katie and your dad like it too? Is your dad afraid of heights? I bet he is now!!! I am glad he listened to your mom and only took one of you guys at a time.....That is one of my favorite hikes in the whole world!!!! But it is scary, especially on the way down....

It was really nice talking to you on the phone - and it sounds like Luke is really having fun too!

I am sure you will sleep well tonight, and I am sure you will have a good time in Death Valley too.
We will see you in a week in San Diego at Uncle Mark's house. - can't wait!
    Love, Grandpa T
