This is a picture of us at the beginning of the trail. There was a cool sundial, which is something that you use to tell the time by the sun.
This is me on the slick rock, which is a slippery rock that has water running down it when it rains. This was about 2 miles from the bottom. It was the start of the rock scrambling and climbing. The rest of the way up was cool because I always want to climb everything, but now I was ALLOWED to climb everything because it was on the trail. At the end, there was a 10-foot wall you had to climb over. Everyone else on trail was cooing over me saying "oh, how old are you? You are a good climber! You are amazing! You are awesome!"
This is me at the top, about 2 miles from the slick rock. At the top it was so amazing. You could see everything.
In this picture, you can see the peak we climbed. We sat at the top and had our lunch. When we finished the hike we were so tired and our feet hurt, so we went back to the ghost town and had a hot dog and an ice cream. It was awesome! 😀
Sounds like a great hike, Katie.....see any snakes? Was it hot out there in the rocks? The pictures make it look like a very rough trail. Was it hard to follow? I am sure your mom remembers what happened to Mathew and Jonathan when they lost their trail out in Arizona. Ask her to tell you about it!

Great pictures Katie! Looks like a lot of fun. What did you take for lunch? Do you know what type of rock the Superstition Mts are? Did it say in the guide book? Keep having fun and learning things on the trip.
ReplyDeleteKatherine,
ReplyDeleteIt certainly looks like there were lots of rocks to climb and I am sure you were up to the task.

Katie, wow. I just keep saying or more accurately typing "wow. There are great pictures and those rocks look quite intimidating, at least to me but I guess not to you and your mom. I still get amazed that plants can grow to be so beautiful in the dry land. I love the picture of you at the top! Queen of the mountain. Love AAB
